If you've ever dreamed of swimming with dolphins, the Dolphin Encounter program will turn your dreams into a reality. Come along for a unique and interactive experience which allows first-time dolphin lovers the chance to have a fun and exciting encounter with friendly dolphins.

Your experience begins with an informative introduction by our dolphin trainers that will help you understand the dolphins' anatomy, physiology, natural history, and fascinating underwater communications.

Then, accompanied by a trainer, you'll enter our specially designed educational pool where you'll have 15 minutes to examine the dolphin's physical characteristics while rubbing and petting the dolphin's smooth skin.

The strong relationship that our trainers have with the dolphins allows you to experience, up close, the intelligence and physical abilities of these fascinating animals. Our knowledgeable dolphin trainers will show you some training techniques and positive reinforcements they use to communicate with our family of Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins. And after you've learned some training signals and how to feed them, the dolphins will shake your hand, dance with you, and even give you a friendly kiss! This amazing encounter is completed by feeding your new friend dolphin snacks. Then, enjoy a wet goodbye as you are splashed by your dolphin!

Frequently Asked Questions:

--Do I need to be able to swim to participate in the dolphin programs?
No. Although the water in these very large saltwater pools is too deep to stand in (4 meters), participants in the Dolphin Encounter program are provided with life vests and need only be strong enough to pull themselves through the water.

--What is the minimum age to participate?
To participate in our Dolphin Encounter, children ages 4 to 8 must be accompanied by a paying adult, but parents may hold children ages 1 to 3 free of charge.

--How many people participate in each dolphin swim?
In order to give you the ultimate opportunity to interact amongst these lovable creatures, group sizes are kept to a minimum to maximize the experience.

--Do you offer an observation area for non-participants?
Yes! We offer an exclusive dolphin viewing area which is available to guests who are accompanying other paying guests, such as friends or family. This area is not open to the general public. However, in the dolphin store, we have viewing porthole windows where anyone can admire the dolphins playing and swimming in their underwater world!

--May I bring a camera or video camera to take pictures?
For the safety of the dolphins, spectators are not permitted to take cameras into any of the pool areas. Those of you participating in a program will -not- be able to bring a camera, waterproof camera or video camera with you into the water. However, our photographers will be on hand to capture your dolphin experience. DVDs and photographs are available for purchase after your dolphin encounter. Photos start at $15 USD each and a 15 minute DVD costs $45 USD.

--What should I bring with me?
Guests must wear swimwear during the encounter.

--Are there any items I am not allowed to bring on the Dolphin Encounter?
For the safety of the dolphins, no jewelry may be worn during the dolphin encounter in the pool area. Also, sunscreen cannot be used during the experience.

--Are there lockers at the Dolphin Center where I can leave my things?
Yes, we provide lockers free of charge to all participants in the dolphin programs.
